Roma Women’s Centre „Rromnjako Ilo“(„Roma woman’s heart“) is officially registered organisation on the date, 25.03. 2007. Prior to the official registration we were a group of Roma women interested to change their lives and lives of other women in Roma community. We had started from ourselves and women we knew.
Since 2007 we are working on:
- Breaking sexual taboos among Roma women
- Support Roma women to ’come out’ and to accept themselves and others as different
- Empowered understanding of the ’sexual choice’ among Roma women
- Advocating for changing the practice of early, forced marriages of Roma girls at the age of 12 as imposed heteronormativity and choice of partner and sexual abuse.
- Existence of LBTI Roma women and their visibility on European and international levels
MISSION
We empower and encourage Roma women and multi- marginalized women of different sexual identities to freely make their own choices in life.
